Update on Joyce Freeman – Dec. 2017

Nice update about Joyce Freeman via Reta Robertson.  Joyce has now completed her time in Royal Inland Hospital and Ponderosa and has moved into the Ridgepointe Retirement facility in Kamloops.

Joyce is shown wearing the prayer shawl knit for her by a lady at Kamloops United Church (KUC) especially for her, and she is with Arlene Simmonds, a member of KUC who has been especially helpful in visiting with Joyce and keeping in touch letting us know how Joyce has been doing.

Thanks from the congregation to Arlene for providing us with current information about Joyce!

Zion’s Annual Congregational Meeting — January 28, 2018

Our church’s Annual Congregational Meeting will be held the afternoon of Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Our regular Worship Service will be followed by a potluck luncheon in the Church Hall followed by the Annual Congregational Meeting when the luncheon is over and our Pastoral Supervisor arrives from Kamloops.

This annual meeting serves to review all aspects of our church operation from the 2017 year, and so everyone is encouraged to plan to attend including bringing at least one potluck luncheon item per couple or single.

See you there!

Zion UCW – Nov. 2017 – “End of an Era”

Sadly, the last meeting of the United Church Women’s group of Ashcroft was held on November 7, 2017. Declining membership and advancing age finally reduced the number of members to the point where the group could not continue to do what its members wanted and needed to do to remain active. Thus, our UCW has now formally disbanded.

As reported in Phyllis Gray’s last report in The Journal published November 16th, “We have really appreciated all the support given to us these past many years from the community for our more than 70 years of bean suppers, bazaars, teas, and other events which could not have happened without your wonderful support. Thank you.”

Gone but not forgotten …

End of the Campbell’s Labels & Postage Stamp Projects

Two long-time outreach projects run by the United Church Women’s group will terminate as of December 31, 2017 due to the UCW’s group disbanding.

Thus, as of the end of 2017, Zion United Church will no longer collect Campbell’s product labels or used international postage stamps.  If you are savings any of these items for the church, please ensure that they are received by the church before the end of this year.

Both of these programs have been offered by the UCW since May 1987, so they operated successfully for over 30 years.  We thank all past donors for your continuing support over all these years!
